Find the Right Squishy for You
Not all squishy toys feel the same. Some are super-soft and easy to squeeze, while others are dense, slow-moving or give your hands much more resistance.
That’s why we created the Spiffy Squishometer™ — our simple 1–5 guide to help you compare squishies by firmness and find the kind of squish you love.
Whether you want a soft desk companion, a satisfying sensory fidget or something with a proper firm squeeze, there’s a squishy for every preference.
What Type of Squishy Should I Choose?
There are lots of different types of squishies, and each offers a slightly different sensory experience:
Super-soft & slow-rise squishies – Soft, easy to squeeze and slowly return to their original shape.
Sugar & maltose squishies – Filled with thick gel for a denser, satisfyingly slow squish. [Explore our Sugar Squishies collection.]
ASMR squishies – Combine tactile feedback with satisfying sounds, textures or fillings.
Firm squishies – Offer more resistance for anyone who prefers a stronger, more substantial squeeze.
Sticky squishies – Soft, tactile and slightly tacky, making them particularly satisfying for repetitive squishing.
Stretchy fidget toys – Designed to be pulled, twisted and stretched rather than simply squeezed.
Popular Squishy Brands
We hand-pick squishies from some of our favourite sensory brands, with different textures, fillings and firmness levels to explore.
Scrunchems Squishies – Colourful, playful and incredibly satisfying, with everything from viral Dumplings and sugar-gel squishies to cute characters and novelty designs.
Speks – Premium sensory toys with innovative textures and stylish designs. Particularly popular with grown-ups looking for satisfying desk fidgets and squishies.
You'll also find plenty of other squishy toys we've chosen simply because we love the way they squish.
Sugar Squishies
Sugar Squishies are filled with thick gel or maltose-style fillings that move slowly as you squeeze. They tend to feel denser than traditional foam squishies and can offer a satisfyingly slow, resistant squish.
They come in everything from cubes and dumplings to animals, fruit and other cute characters.
Squishy Toys for Adults
Squishies definitely aren't just for children. Plenty of grown-ups enjoy keeping a squishy fidget toy on their desk, beside the sofa or in their bag.
They're an easy way to keep your hands occupied while working, watching TV, travelling or simply taking a moment to unwind. If you'd prefer something subtle, look out for simple shapes, firmer stress balls and premium sensory designs from brands such as Speks.
How Do I Clean a Squishy Toy?
Most squishy toys can be gently wiped with a soft cloth, warm water and a little mild soap, then left to air dry completely.
Avoid harsh chemicals, soaking your squishy or putting it in the washing machine unless the manufacturer's instructions specifically say otherwise.
Squishy Toy Safety
Always check the age recommendation and safety information on the individual product before use. Younger children should be supervised where appropriate, and damaged or leaking squishies should no longer be used.
Squishies are designed for squeezing, but biting, puncturing or excessively pulling them can damage the outer material.

Squishy Toys FAQs
What is a squishy toy?
A squishy toy is a soft, squeezable toy designed to compress when squeezed before returning towards its original shape. Different squishies use different materials and fillings, which means their texture, resistance and speed of rebound can vary enormously.
Are squishy toys suitable for adults?
Absolutely. Squishy toys for adults have become increasingly popular as desk toys, sensory fidgets and simply something satisfying to squeeze while working, travelling or relaxing.
What's the difference between soft and firm squishies?
Soft squishies require very little pressure to squeeze, while firmer squishies provide noticeably more resistance. Our Spiffy Squishometer™ rates our squishies from 1–5 to make it easier to compare them.
What are sugar squishies?
Sugar squishies are gel-filled squishy toys with a dense, slow-moving texture. Their filling shifts as they're squeezed, creating a satisfyingly different sensation from traditional foam squishies.
Which squishy should I choose?
It depends entirely on the type of squeeze you enjoy. If you love something gentle, start with a lower Squishometer rating. If you prefer plenty of resistance, look towards the firmer end of the scale.
Are squishy fidget toys good for anxiety?
Many people use squishy fidget toys as a calming sensory tool during anxious or overwhelming moments. The repetitive squeezing motion and tactile feedback can feel grounding, soothing and engaging for busy hands.
Do you sell squishy toys in the UK?
Yes. Spiffy is a UK-based independent shop and our squishy toys are dispatched from the UK.
